"Well, I'm just glad to make it this far," Anthony Pequeno said when we
asked him how it felt to be running in the state finals for cross
country in Austin, Texas. Pequeno has been training hard since May 2006.
In his last cross country meet, he placed 6th that qualified him to
compete in the stare finals. The week before regionals when he placed
6th, he shaved his head for Halloween. "I think having a bald
head benefited in my success. So I plan to keep it bald for a while,"
Pequeno said. His unintended shaving of his head was in fact for a
Halloween costume in which he played a blue member of the Blue Man
Group. The Blue Man Group is a musical group. All of us back here in
Amarillo at Caprock High School would just like to let Anthony Pequeno
know that we all support him and hope he does the very best he possibly can.
